Introducing my new weekly column, Good Clean Finds! Here I will share all of the amazing and inspiring things I find during the week. Check back every Friday for new link love and inspiration!

———

This week I have a lot of food politics and videos for you – an awesome documentary, cool garlic tricks, scary ingredient names, finding the funny in the current SAD situation, hope for an end to factory farming, vegetarian meat and one seriously sassy movie.

1. // Hungry for Change (nom nom nom)

Hungry For Change

I luuuurve documentaries. Their addictive. Dramatic. Inspiring. I particularly love documentaries about food and health (der?).

The 2012 documentary Hungry for Change is having a free online screening until the 31st of March + a bunch of extra videos. This doco features the absolutely gorgeous and inspiring Kris Carr. Go watch it and share it with everyone you know – you never know whose life you could change!

I loved the advice to keep adding in the good non-processed foods and eventually you won’t have room for the bad stuff. This is an awesome philosophy and so much more attainable than the throw-out-your-entire-pantry-and-turn-your-life-upside-down approach. And the scientific benefits of self love.

2. // The easy way to peel an entire head of garlic in seconds. You have to watch this video to believe it – very cool.

3. // 20 Ingredients To Memorize and Avoid In Any Food You Consume. What ingredients to watch out for (even in seemingly healthy foods), and what their names appear as on ingredients lists.

4. // Bill Maher’s funny take on the pharmaceutical industry and US Government approach to health.

5. // A cool ad campaign by Animals Australia to end factory farming lets you be the star of the ad.

Make It Possible

6. // Bill Gates is getting involved in the vegetarian meat industry. I’m not sure that fake meat is the answer, but its definitely better that the alternative of animal meat. It’s also worrying that Bill Gates has invested heavily in Monsanto, a company well known for exploiting farmers and pushing genetically modified seeds. Are Bill Gate’s intentions as pure as he claims?

The Future of Food

7. //  I can’t tell you how frickin’ excited I am that they are making a Veronica Mars movie, funded by a history-making Kickstarter campaign. Smart, strong and sassy – what’s not to love? I loved Kristen Bell even before I knew she is a long time vegetarian and now vegan, and loved to cook.

I’ve got some big changes coming to the blog next week… keep an eye out!

Have you seen Hungry for Change yet? What did you think? Seen any other cool food documentaries lately?
